  Kinokuniya is truly one of my favorite places to visit in New York! Whenever I start missing Japan, I head straight to the stationery section downstairs and spend far too long browsing while trying to convince myself not to buy everything in sight. 🙃🫣 From Japanese stationery and books to unique goods and blind boxes, there’s always so much to discover. There’s always something new, making each trip feel like a little surprise. It’s a shame I only took some random photos there lol

  You don't have to be Japanese to visit and love this store but being able to read the Japanese language does help if you want to understand a fair amount of the words that are written on many of the products. Maybe it's just me , but I want more Godzilla products. I think if they have a huge Totoro, they should also have a huge Godzilla as well and stage a battle between them and hire me to do the cinematography. Also, beware, everything is super cute and you could get a case of cuteness aggress

  The selection on books and manga, both in english and Japanese, is varied and updates frequently. Any popular manga release will be here, and the japanese books downstairs cover every genre every bookstore should, including a helpful "easy reads" section for learners. The collectibles however i find very lacking. they dont have a fraction of their online catalog available here, and it's a shame, because thats what people mainly search for.
