Absolutely incredible meal! We had an amazing dinner here and every dish exceeded our expectations. We started with the Anchoas , which was incredibly flavorful with the savory butter and charred sourdough. The Ensalada de Calamar was light, refreshing, and beautifully textured with the pomegranate seeds and preserved lemon. One of my favorite restaurants in Brooklyn. Great to come back today after many years. Simple preparation with seasonal ingredients, but every dish is delicious. I highly recommend the eggplant, their version of pan con tomate, white asparagus special, leg of lamb special, and dessert special that was a cross between French toast and croissant with blueberries and ice cream. Can't recommend highly enough - 5 shining stars!
La Vara has a lovely, cozy vibe and a clean & spacious environment. The food is delicious, but definitely reserve a spot first — otherwise you may not be able to get in! I don’t fancy octopus easily, but the pulpo de roca was memorable; it was fresh, light, and cut really thin. I’d just say some parts of the Cochinillo fell a bit too salty.
