*Disclaimer* I am not Chinese, nor am I of Asian decent BUT I have been eating Ma Po Tofu for 6 years now. There are defining characteristics of Ma Po Tofu which makes it a signature Sichuan dish. It usually contains (no matter where you go) ground beef, fermented black beans, chili oil, tofu, salty bean paste and pepper corns along with some veggies depending on who is cooking it.
