We had a wonderful evening at Rocco's, a charming neighborhood Italian restaurant run by the sweetest young couple, Vinny and Joanne. They're the ultimate hosts -- warm, welcoming, and genuinely lovely people. The food was fantastic from start to finish. We began with perfectly tender fried calamari served with a delicious tomato sauce. The baked clams were excellent, swimming in a buttery garlic olive oil that was perfect for dipping their homemade bread. The thin-crust pizza had a lovely sweet
Food & service were outstanding. Professional but personable community vibe. Fresh bread & pasta made in house as well as Gelato. Not Americanized Italian and that is a compliment. Al dente. Mocktail list included. Veal Chops were great and this is coming from someone who had access to fresh veal. Super tender, not melt in your mouth but close. Nice veggie offerings. I already have in mind the next items I will be trying. Well worth the hike & complimentary valet service.
So, after a few years of following Rocco’s via social media I was able to finally eat there yesterday as I needed to pick up a my wife from JFK Airport. I went with my two children ages 6/4 and myself. The staff were beyond excellent with the children, they will make you feel as if you’re at a family members house having dinner.
