This is my first time visit since they changed the chef. I was a little worried the taste might be different, but it was actually even better!! The appetizer was perfectly fried, the Karaage was sooo juicy inside. Perfect match with the highball & beer! Everything about this place is amazing! Not an overly commercialized sushi spot, just a Japanese owner who is passionate about his craft. Very authentic. The owner (and his staff) are friendly, knowledgeable in his craft and takes pride in his unique double toro style (which I highly recommend you get). Very clean environment and outside of the sushi, karaage is great, salads, everything etc. You won’t be disappointed! 🍣
I used to be a regular here back when it was Suzuki Shokudo whenever I missed a taste of home. I recently visited the newly reopened Yanagi for lunch with a friend and had the sushi set. The quality was outstanding—everything was so fresh. It’s honestly been a while since I’ve found sushi this good in New York.
