I’ve had Yemeni food from all over New York and so far Alshaybani has to be my absolute favorite. This is actual authentic Yemeni food. Tastes just like the exact food you would get in a Yemeni restaurant in Yemen. The bread was actually fully cooked unlike some other places where you can still smell and taste the raw dough. I am really surprised this place is rated so high. The food here is indeed very good. However, moving past the food, there are some clear downsides. Many dishes from the menu were missing, the decor feels cheap, and tea is served in paper cups. They also gave us only one menu to share..... I suppose I would only recommend this place if you’ve smoked a bit and have the munchies, either by yourself or as a duo. It's solely about the food here, not the atmosphere or the service
first time trying yemeni cuisine! there were a couple items we wanted that were sold out, but other than that, the food was decent. will be back to try the lamb
