A hidden gem in Sunnyside! I’ve been to El Pilon Bakery many times, and it never disappoints. It’s a small, cozy spot that’s always buzzing with people, which says a lot about how loved it is in the neighborhood. My go-to favorites are the beef empanadas (both fried and spinach options are great), the pandebono, and the cambrayas—everything is fresh, flavorful, and consistently good. This was some of the best Colombian food in NYC! The pan de bono and bandeja paisa were delicious! Fair prices and their customer service was a 10/10. Will come back FOR SURE!
They lost me as a customer. While the staff is very nice, I can’t believe what they tried to pass off as yucca bread (pan de yuca). Dry, small, and slightly burnt. There are plenty of other options nearby. If you chose to go there, keep on eye what they put in your bag.
