Golden Wonton King is one of those spots that really delivers when you’re craving authentic Cantonese comfort food. The flavors are rich, nostalgic, and clearly made with care. Their wontons are a standout—perfectly cooked with a delicate wrapper and flavorful filling—and the broth is light but deeply satisfying. I highly recommend the salted egg yolk fried lobster! It’s super flavorful and crispy, with the rich yolk complementing the succulent lobster meat. A bit on the pricier side but we got a lot of seafood so that makes sense/is worth it.
We’ve been to Golden Wonton King a few times and usually liked it, so this takeout order was disappointing. The Peking Pork Chop was solid, and the sautéed bamboo pith with mixed mushrooms was decent. However, the Shredded Pork with Garlic Sauce tasted like generic Chinese takeout—nothing like what you’d expect from a restaurant at this level. The sautéed chives with diced salted fish was the biggest letdown: mostly tough, overgrown chives instead of chive flowers, and barely any salted fish.
