We stumbled upon La Goulue after a snowy walk through Central Park and couldn’t have been happier. The restaurant is quaint, charming, and full of classic French ambience—exactly what you hope for on a winter day. The crab salad was beautifully fresh with a lovely vinaigrette, and the onion soup was outstanding—deep, rich, and topped with perfectly melted Gruyère. A very mediocre experience with upscale prices. Appetizers were great with classic French class and delectable flavors( frogs legs in particular). Mains, however, were mediocre in quality. For example I got a steak and it tasted out of the freezer. Expect to pay about $150 per person and for that price it’s unacceptable. HOW TO GET IN: I did a walk in at 8 pm on a Saturday and did not have to wait. The service is good and the food is good too, we had French onion soup and tried the soufflé. They were satisfying, and we did a walk in and were seating promptly. The manager was very nice and gracious and greeted us and made sure we were doing okay.
