Was looking for excellent pizza within walking distance or a short train ride from Citi Field. Outstanding grandma slice. Salads are massive. Old school feel. Army vet who opened the restaurant 17 years ago. People come in with a smile on the face. Louie talks to everyone. A gem in Elmhurst. Legit ingredients- slices of mozzarella, basil, chunks of tomato. Delicious. Highly recommend.
Location across from Elmhurst hospital can be chaotic and parking is tight, but the pizza here is impossibly thin and crispy. Haven't had any pizza like this since Pizza Palace on Bayard Street by Columbus Park closed. Easy to eat half a pie by oneself. Crispy, thin crust, perfect amount of sauce and oil (about 2 drips per plain slice, not drowning, but reminds you that this is true NYC pizza), lightly cheesed, but still has a good stringy mozzarella pull. Louie’s Pizza is one of our family’s favorite places. The pizza is absolutely delicious, and the pasta dishes are excellent. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and consistently great. It’s also very family-friendly and perfect for kids. Our son loves coming here, and Louis and his father are always incredibly kind to him.
