A comfortable place to enjoy a beer with a friend. If you take advantage of the happy hour from open to 6 pm every day, you can enjoy a beer for just $5. The food tastes satisfying and comes in a wide variety, offering plenty of choices. I plan to visit again.
Ran into Mochiron Izakaya after a long morning of travel on the last day of our NYC visit. A bit punch drunk and dead on our feet, warm staff invited us inside. A week of heavy feasting influenced our light tapas order of spicy cucumber and the seaweed salad. Just what the doctor ordered! Refreshing, not too seaweedy or too spicy for our adventurous but solidly Midwestern palates. A tin boat of cooked mushrooms followed, not swamped in butter or over salted. What a hidden gem. If you are craving some very flavorful and spectacular Japanese food that will not break your wallet, go here. Our group of three ordered several appetizers and a meal. I would return just to eat appetizers. Totally recommend the Kaarage, their Yaki Gyoza, and their Takoyaki. These takoyaki’s were better than a Michelin recognized kiosk in Kyoto! I liked their Tempura Udon, but would try something different next time and would not order the salmon Onigiri as the rice texture
