Tried Red Bowl and ordered the Chicken with Broccoli. It was fine, but honestly pretty average. The chicken was tender enough and the broccoli was cooked well, but the flavor was pretty standard — the kind of Chinese takeout taste you can get almost anywhere in the U.S. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. We were one of the very few Asian diners in the entire restaurant — including the staff — which already gave us a sense that this wasn’t your typical Chinese spot. It definitely didn’t have the feel or energy of a classic Chinese restaurant. The crispy beef was solid, but nothing that stood out — about on par with what you’d get at Joe’s Shanghai. My husband & I had a delicious dinner this evening at Red Bowl. Not only was the food fantastic & flavorful, but the service was also impeccable. I must mention our server Juan specifically. Not only was he so pleasant & polite, but he also went above & beyond with service. I’m so happy we have Red Bowl as a restaurant option in Bay Ridge. Looking forward to eating there again soon.
