Casual joint specializing in fried chicken sandwiches, plus bowls for dine-in or takeout.
From Google Maps reviews.
New York has no shortage of burger joints, but an Indian burger spot? It was a first for me, and Rowdy Rooster made sure it was a memorable one. A classic NYC hole-in-the-wall, this place is almost designed to be missed. Blink, check your phone, or dodge one too many pedestrians, and you've walked right past it. Try not to, it's worth the stop. Pricing sits a little on the higher side for a combo, but let's be honest - this is New York. The burgers are bold, satisfying, and built to impress. I
I know that this place is known for their sandwiches; but as I was getting takeout, I thought it best to order a bowl, so that the bread wouldn't get soggy by the time it was consumed. I got the fried chicken bowl, with medium spice. I'm pretty good with spicy, and medium spice was just about enough for me - if I had gone a level higher, it may not have been a pleasant experience. The flavors were good; but this is not a dish that I would come back to again. Glad to have finally tried it, though
This place has been on my bucket list since Padma Lakshmi recommended it. The sandwich was great and the fries were arguably better. I had the spicy sandwich with dark meat. One disappointing thing I heard from the guy over the counter was that they were closing all physical locations and moving to online ordering only. As someone who loves the city and loves physical locations, especially eating at physical locations, I hope they reconsider.
