HOW have I not given Shanghai a review yet?! This is hands DOWN the best cheap Chinese food I’ve eaten in NYC! Amazing flavor across each dish I’ve tried, but the chicken with mixed vegetables is my favorite. Always fresh vegetables, tasty brown sauce, and the hot and sour soup is always fresh and flavorful! The workers are so polite and friendly and the prices are incredible for Manhattan. I’ve been going here for over five years and will keep coming back!
First time here, they know all of the customers. Different races. Literally all. Was speaking to them as if they are friends. Great sign. Another great sign is seeing Chinese people eat here. Authentic Chinese food. Food was fresh and the shrimp and broccoli was tasty, they just didn’t follow my directions on the shrimp. One star off because they took over 20 mins to make the dish.
Great customer service, it was my first time eating here but I immediately noticed that this was a pivotal spot in the neighborhood the way that the cashier interacted with the customers like they were all life long friends. I got the beef chow ho fun with crab rangoons and everything was hot and fresh.
