Michelle at the front desk was an absolute delight. She was so kind to me and my husband. She asked if I wanted to sign up for a Marriott account, to which I said yes. As a result, she upgraded my lower floor queen sized room to a 38th floor king room right by the elevator which is a plus for me. I showed up in a t shirt and leggings and she just couldn’t have been kinder to us. I really appreciated her hospitality and hope that management does something nice for her. She is a GEM. We stayed at this hotel 20 years ago on our first visit to New York , it felt stylish , high end and luxurious then. When we booked to return a few weeks ago with our children we were excited to go back to the same hotel! However things have changed and it was not a repeat of our first amazing experience. The good is that this hotel is in a prime location of midtown. You are in proximity of times square, close to shopping stores and central park. The train station is right on the corner as well. The bad is that this is a very outdated hotel. There was always loooong lines are the front desk which is because of its popularity being in a prime location. The rooms are super outdated. The rug on the floors smell old like visiting grandma's house. There is "community" microwave - 1 microwave per floor
