Whenever my family travels, we make it a point to visit a museum. Since this was our first trip to New York City, we knew we wanted to explore a museum in Harlem. We took the train and enjoyed a pleasant walk to our destination. The Studio Museum in Harlem was a wonderful experience for my family and I. The Studio Museum in Harlem was founded in 1968 during the civil rights era to support and exhibit the work of artists of African descent. Originally located in a rented loft over a liquor store it is now in a beautiful purpose built architectural gem. A fitting venue for both their permanent collection as well as themed exhibitions. Enjoyed my experience here. Loved the historical art and inclusion of different artist from the community, staff was super friendly minus one security personnel who just seemed unhappy with her job. Yelled at us from across the room and then proceeded to photobomb our picture. I hope she had a better day after that. Overall really great. 10/10 would recommend.
