had a great dinner. the space is intimate and cozy. really enjoyed the conversations i had with some of the other patrons. it definitely is expensive for korean food compared to what you can find in ktown or queens but sunn’s does a bit of a modern take on it. we tried hwe (my fave dish of the night), endive salad, banchan (garlic shoots stood out), dumplings (great flavor), ssam (tasty), and honey cake.
I came here because it’s one of the restaurants that give the Chase Sapphire Reserve $150 OpenTable credit. It’s a very small and narrow restaurant but creates a cute, intimate environment. As a Korean American, I really wanted to love this place. I came in hoping to be impressed by the food, especially given the pricing. Paying $25 for banchan that’s typically complimentary at most Korean restaurants set a high bar that, unfortunately, the food didn’t meet. Everything we tried was overly salty, even the dessert, which was surprising. I was disappointed across the board, including the ssam, hwe, salad, tteokbokki, and mochi dessert.
