We had the omakase experience, so the chef prepared whatever he felt was best for the night instead of ordering individually. I always enjoy this style more because it lets the chef show their own balance and pacing throughout the meal. The quality of the fish was very good and everything felt fresh and carefully prepared. We had the most amazing 17-course omakase at Ishikawa! The staff was super friendly and all knew the menu very well, even explaining how some of the courses were best to be enjoyed. The accompanying sakes were incredibly tasty, and the food was some of the best we've ever eaten, going from (relatively) simple (but amazing) fish nigiri to immensely complex stacks of scallops, crab and uni. Incredible and special omakase experience in a very residential part of the UES. You can easily miss this place it feels very private once inside. Everything was exceptional. Such a special experience and top notch service. I always suggest sitting at the sushi counter vs table. Great value for what you get!!!
