I came to Taipan Bakery in Flushing this morning for coffee and tried their Napoleon pastry. I’ve been here many times before, but this was my first time trying their Napoleon. It’s not like the typical Western-style Napoleon. This one is more of a traditional Hong Kong-style bakery version. The pastry layers were quite crispy, and the filling wasn’t too heavy or too much, so it didn’t feel overly sweet or greasy. There were also walnuts inside, which added a nice texture. Known this place since I was little. Although many things have changed over the past decade, this bakery(cakery if ykyk) and many of the bread they offer still remain just as delicious and nostalgic. Personally one of my favorite things to get from the menu are their various egg tarts. But if you like a burger, there is a cheeseburger that I found quite enjoyable since the bun is slightly sweet. Regardless definitely a place to try atleast once.
CASH ONLY!!! Crowded and loud but this is the norm in a Chinese bakery especially smack dab in middle of Flushing. Service is quick however overall not very hygienic when not a single person use the tongs provided to grab goods but use their hands, some I even see picking at the bread then putting them back. A lady right after me was basically rummaging through the bread selections both hands sorting out her desired ones. Though the baked goods were fresh and warm, I find it hard to return. Th
