Definitely get here early and reserve a table before hand because this place is tiny and gets booked up! (Even on a Wednesday night). The 2 drink minimum and 20% automatic gratuity are important to note, since the drinks are definitely not cheap. But the jazz is fantastic (30s-40s style) and I’d come back for the vibes. If you plan on having a bigger group you need to get here early since they will fill up fast and it can be a tight squeeze.
I went to The Rum House the other night and had very mixed feelings. The live music was absolutely fantastic — trumpet, contrabajo, piano — more 40s/50s style than modern jazz, but the musicians were incredibly talented, friendly, and cheerful. Mandatory 2 drinks per person while you enjoy that jazz band. Staff were detailed oriented :) You can use the hotel bathroom here too. Super close by to Times Square, so tipsy souvenir shopping was pretty awesome. Make sure to book your reservation unless you like to stand!
