3.5 stars. Flying under the radar, they recently opened with hardly any fanfare. I happened to be walking by and saw the doors were open. Inside it’s pretty spacious with only a select number of tables (they could actually fit more inside) and all the way in the back is the counter for ordering and where the food is prepped. I was walking along Steinway yesterday and stumbled upon this new spot—so glad I decided to walk in! The staff immediately made us feel welcome, which set the tone for a great experience. The food? I recently started eating healthy/clean again. It’s quite timely that Viva opened in Astoria. I ordered a chicken inasal bowl and it certainly hit the spot. The veggies and fruits were fresh, the meat was tender, and it was quite filling. Not to mention their rice was drizzled in a yummy chicken oil.
