After a snowstorm in NYC, all I wanted was something warm and comforting—and Dim Sum Palace near Columbia University really delivered. Everything we ordered was solid. The Hong Kong–style milk tea had a strong tea flavor and wasn’t overly sweet. The Fuzhou dumplings had a nice chewy wrapper with a generous filling. The Shanghai soup dumplings had thin skin and plenty of soup—great with a bit of vinegar. I was pleasantly surprised by the taro buns: smooth, not too sweet, and very well made. The
Clean restaurant, seating for around 20 people, and ordering kiosks make ordering pretty easy. Food is good, and so is the quantity. Menu felt slightly on the expensive end though. Got the Shrimp and Pork Wonton Noodle Soup ($14.50), Shu Mai ($7.75), Spicy Mushroom Dumpling ($6.95), and Chicken Lo Mein ($18.95). Food arrived within 20 mins even though they were busy on a Sunday afternoon.
This is the new Dim Sum restaurant on the UWS, Broadway between West 92nd and 93rd Streets. Excellent menu, wide variety, in the traditional Hong Kong style. Food is very fresh and well prepared. Staff is very friendly, helpful in describing the different dishes and quick service. Great addition to the Upper West Side. A+
