This is a cute place, but the experience was ruined by lack of service. As soon as we walked in the host/waitress seemed annoyed to greet or seat us even though the restaurant was 80% empty. She was rude throughout the entire service, she clearly didn’t want to be there. On top of that their payment systems starts the tip setting at 20%. My experience at Gottino was very good. It’s a great place to have a conversation — calm, charming, and perfect for a date. It’s not noisy, which makes it even more enjoyable. This bar serves only beer and wine (no cocktails). We ordered some olives with our drinks, which were nice. I recommend it if you’re looking for a chill, quiet spot to have a drink before dinner. Prices are “normal” for NYC, though a bit on the expensive side.
