We had an absolutely wonderful meal at La Boite en Bois a few days ago before seeing the Magic Flute at Met Opera. The staff is all-around superb, making us feel very welcome. The food was great. We had ceasar salad, which has great romano cheese, moules frites (mussels with fries), and rabbit, the evening's special. The latter may be an acquired taste to some, but I loved it and would recommend. The setting is very charming, ideal for a night on the town. Reservation is just about a must as it
food was a little disappointing. the pate was pretty bland and the crab cakes were unremarkable. the duck was the biggest letdown — tasted dry and flavorless, but the gravy helped a bit. salads were a highlight. but at this price point, not worth it. the environment and staff were absolutely amazing and attentive.
The food was beautifully presented. It did taste as good as it looked. The flavors of each of the ingredients stood out and blended together marvelously. The cocktails deserve a mention; also beautifully mixed with an orignal combination of herbs and fruits and alcohols. All great. A hidden surprise.
