I showed up with a reservation that was accidentally for the wrong day, which I didn’t realize until checkin. They were able to accommodate us, on a Saturday, but at 4pm and only for 2. It’s a small place, so I recommend making a reservation (and making sure it’s correct!). The French onion soup was delicious. I ordered a side of bread, which was useful for getting the cheese. We visited on a Thursday night and definitely hope to return. The space was small and intimate. Since it was our first time there, the diners at the table next to us recommended the French Onion Soup; however, the best approach is to order the Prix Fixe menu and share. For starters, we ordered the French Onion Soup and the Artichoke Salad; for our entrées, we chose meat dishes—specifically a stew—and for dessert, we absolutely had to have the crêpe. What a gem! This place is a NYC classic, been around since the 70s and a true gem for midtown. Perfectly executed French bistro fare. One of the best French onion soup in town, plus fries and escargot. Other greats are steak hache (ground beef) au poivre (pictured) and beef bourguignon (although I wish the still served it with pasta rather than mashed potatoes!)
