Stopped by this store to get lunch for take out. My first time at this place, so took me few minutes to understand how it works. Their lunch combo is one protein with rice or fries and side of beans. Multiple people are on the other side of counter to quickly prepare your meal and pack it to go. All the items are already cooked and kept warm in trays. I got the oxtail which was decent. Hidden gem. Used to live nearby and it’s the real deal. Lots of blue collar spanish-speaking workers go here so you know it’s good. Staff is kind and good-natured. I go back whenever I’m in the neighborhood. Get the pork mofongo!
I got hooked on mangú after spending a week in the Dominican Republic this past February, so I was hoping to find an authentic Dominican restaurant while visiting New York City, and boy did I find it here! I got a lunch special of roast pork with beans and rice, a side of mangú and a side of tostones - everything was tan sabroso!
