Great experience - my partner is celiac and this is one of the few spots in Staten Island that actually knew their stuff. And the owner was incredibly kind, even gave us some free wontons. And my family who has tried other non gf Chinese spots thought this place was levels better. Overall would absolutely recommend!
After being disappointed by our go to Chinese take-out place I searched Google and read some reviews and we gave New Island a try and can say we’re making the switch permanently. My husband had general tso’s chicken which had great flavor, the pork fried rice was also good, my son was happy with his boneless spare ribs, I had the chicken and broccoli, I’m not sure if I wasn’t in the mood for it or if the flavor wasn’t what I’m use to, the chicken was tender but I enjoyed the general tso’s chick
I recently visited New Island, And I was thoroughly impressed with their approach to customer service, especially regarding gluten sensitivity. From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm and welcoming, eager to assist with any questions I had. What stood out most was their extensive knowledge about cross-contamination and gluten sensitivity. The team took the time to explain their preparation processes, including how they manage gluten-free options to ensure safety for customers like me. T
