Hello to the good people that are considering going to Saiguette! I'm going to hold your virtual hand when I say this, the lemongrass pork bahn mi is worth every penny and is worth going out of your way for. Something about Saiguette, is it will always be phenomenal and everyone will love it. So, go get your sammy, walk to the park, sit in the grass and enjoy one of the best sandwiches you'll ever have. Saiguette is one of those hidden gems in NYC that consistently delivers when it comes to Vietnamese comfort food, especially for takeout. I’ve tried a good amount of Vietnamese spots in the city, and while Saiguette doesn’t offer a dine in experience (it’s strictly takeout), they make up for it with flavor, portion size, and speed. The lemon grass pork meat was amazing. However, the bread of the banh mi was cheap and soggy/not crunchy at all. The mayonnaise sauce feels unauthentic and adds unnecessary calories - not what Vietnamese cuisine is known for. Also, jalapeños? They don’t belong in a banh mi! The portion was huge but I expected more.
