I visited Salad Don to try their lúcuma juice, but unfortunately I felt small pieces of something while drinking it. At first, I thought it might be bits of lúcuma peel, but after checking, I realized they were pieces of plastic! I was also disappointed that the staff member assisting us did not speak Spanish and could not identify basic items like green pepper or sweet potatoes in Spanish. This made it difficult for the Spanish-speaking people in my party to understand. I hope the restaurant
The iconic Essex Market, less than a year ago, gave us this new salad option. They're for takeaway; you can eat at the tables and chairs in the Market on the second floor. But I'm delighted with the portions and quality of the salad—highly recommended.
I've had a lot of bowl-type dishes throughout NYC and the one I got here (Peruvian chicken bowl) outshines them all - by far. The food is substantial, but not heavy, and perfectly flavored - not overly salty or greasy. So perfect. I wish I were closer to this location - I'd go there all the time. I happened to be in the area for an appointment. Perhaps I'll make a special trip just to get another bowl.
