The vibe of the place is great! We went on a weekday so there was no waiting. We ordered the Pink Slipper, Pear Love and Girl Friday. All three cocktails were spot on and delicious. The path to the speakeasy looks a bit shady but it’s perfectly fine. The Google location is correct - climb down the stairs to the narrow alley, keep walking straight, climb a few stairs and on your right there would be black door, knock and someone will let you in. This bar is somewhat difficult to locate, as it requires going down a staircase, but the effort is well worth it. The cocktails are excellent, both in flavor and craftsmanship. What makes the experience particularly intriguing is the bar’s nod to the Prohibition era: all drinks are served in coffee cups, a clever and playful continuation of that tradition. We sampled several classic cocktails, and each one was superbly executed.
We came to this bar because it was advertised to be open since the 1920/30s?? and as much as we loved the atmosphere I believe playing early 2000s club music is a disservice to the history of this bar. The drinks were watered down and for the amount of history available at this location, the portraits should have been hung straight, the drinks should not have been 50% water and ice, and the music should reflect the age of the bar.
