The Smith is one of those New York restaurants that does everything well and never gets enough credit for it. The menu is American brasserie with enough range to satisfy anyone at the table. The mac and cheese is rich and perfectly baked with a crispy top. The burger is thick juicy and served on a brioche bun that holds up. The brunch is one of the best in Midtown with a Bloody Mary bar that lets you build exactly what you want and French toast that is thick custardy and dusted with powdered sug
I loved the place, they have good good food and good drinks, it is in the city so it is best to walk to it. Nice ambiance where you could have a dinner date or have a business meeting). The Mimosas were 17$ each one (Manhattan Prices) but worth it. I am going back for the brunch. The chicken sandwich was messy but delicious.
I’m giving this two stars because while the atmosphere was great, the food and drinks really missed the mark for me. The outdoor seating is a highlight and the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, so no complaints there. That said, the food was disappointing.
