A Christopher Street classic since 1972, this gay bar draws an older crowd.

If I had to pick a favorite bar, it would always be Ty's. The moment you walk in, you just feel welcome. The bartenders are fantastic, specially Garry is the absolute best—he remembers your name, your drink, and your latest drama, all with a wink and a smile. You get a seriously strong drink for a price that doesn’t hurt your wallet, which is always a good start. The atmosphere is just lovely, the music is always spot-on. Let’s just say the crowd includes a very welcoming mix of friendly bears a
The old-school West Village charm and lively but comfortable vibe make it perfect for a relaxed night out. Drinks are strong and reasonably priced, and the crowd was fun and friendly. Service was quick and welcoming. It got busier later but was still enjoyable. About $10-20 per person. A reliable classic in the Village.
The bar next door was closed so we stumbled into Ty’s instead, and I’m so glad we did!! Both bartender and patrons were wonderfully kind and sweet. Immediately felt welcome. Music selection was great; instant good vibes. Will definitely come back next time I’m in NYC!
