Stopped by the Van Leeuwen Ice Cream location in the West Village and it was really good. The ice cream was super creamy and flavorful. I tried the cookie dough espresso and the matcha strawberry both were excellent. The matcha strawberry being vegan was a nice bonus and honestly tasted just as good as the regular options. Definitely a solid spot for high-quality ice cream.
First time we tried Van Leeuwen, definitely not the last. It was the perfectly sweet end to a West Village Food Crawl, and I’d 10/10 get the Espresso Fudge Brownie flavor again. We also got the Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Brownie and the Cookies & Cream flavors, both of which were equally phenomenal. The ice cream comes a bit firm, so letting it melt a second sends it to heaven. Insane flavors, great overall!
We took advantage of the late closing time of this ice cream place, and we were not disappointed! We tried the mango sticky rice and brown sugar cookie dough brownie, and although they were very sweet, they were still quite delicious! The aesthetic inside the store is also incredibly colourful and vibrant, making for a great photo background! I will definitely be back if I want a sweet treat and I'm ever back in New York.
