Have been in NYC for almost 2 decades, and have tried more Italian dishes than I care to admit - this is hands down THE BEST American Italian style restaurant. I continue to come back for their spicy penne alla vodka - delicious, the sauce has a slight hint of heat, just enough to make the flavors work together, creating an absolutely excellent dish. Went here for my birthday with my dad, and it was honestly amazing! The bread was divine, the salad was beautiful and fresh, the penne à la vodka with shrimp was so flavorful and buttery. I loved everything! And the cake was good too however the frosting could be a little bit looser on the strawberry Matcha cake.
My friend and I walked in without a reservation. We were told that the wait would be 2 hours. That was fine but what I didn’t understand was the empty seats that were there during the entire time we waited. They stated that the grace period was 10/15 minutes but there was more than one empty table BEFORE we arrived. Luckily the bar opened up and that’s where we had dinner.
