My experience was one of firsts. My first time visiting BLANK. My first time experiencing a Matcha 🍵 officially becoming a #MatchaMatchaMan! I enjoyed a lemon loaf which my tastebuds associated with liquid porridge 🥣. I’ll be BLANK from here on out.
Excited to see Blank Street open at the corner of E. 11th Street & University Place near Union Square. The location is beautiful, and my barista was kind and attentive, even asking exactly how much milk I wanted in my iced coffee. The coffee itself was good and clearly made with quality beans, but at $5.08 for a small iced coffee, the price felt steep. At that point, I’d probably walk a few blocks south to Bagel Bob’s for a comparable cup at a much lower price.
My wife and I stopped by Blank Street Coffee and ended up really impressed. She got the Earl Grey Matcha, and it had a clean, smooth flavor with a nice balance between the tea and matcha — subtle but really well done. I went for the Espresso Martini, which was richer and stronger, but still surprisingly smooth. Both drinks felt thoughtfully made, not just thrown together.
