The food was good but a little uneven. The pizza and the the carrots were highlights. The pizza ingredients were very fresh and tasty and the crust was thin and neither too hard nor too soft. The carrots had a perfect texture and the sauce was addictive. On the other hand, the oyster mushrooms were good but a little boring after a few bites. The spaghetti with botarga were just okay: the flavors were all jumbled up. Similar with the service. The waiter was great but a second person was a little
Gjelina NY was ... fine. the food here was very good and the menu had enough items that looked really amazing, it was hard to choose. we ended up going with the spinach salad with beets, the frites, chinese broccolini (amazing!) mixed mushroom pizza, steelhead trout and porkchop. we were 2 people and finished most of it. my only complaints on food would be related to the pizza...it wasn't long before the bottom crust was just a soggy mess that was unpleasant to eat and didn't support the topping
Overall it was a 5-star experience except for one course that I just had to take a star off. Service was excellent. Quick, not burdensome, everyone super helpful and kind. The margarita was excellent and unique. The lamb sausage pizza was flavorful, as was the dandelion salad. The short rib pappardelle were so tasty, but I could have done without the horseradish on it since it gave a slightly acidic/sour note. The hot mussels in broth was the BEST dish. The knocked off star was for the wagyu Den
