My best friend chose this place and it was a slam dunk :) Highly recommend the khao soi gai - the chicken was so tender. I loved the coconut milk / curry and egg noodles. It was filling and delicious. The tumeric branzini was also incredible! A whole fish that has a slight crisp / crunch. Yummm. Don’t eat the dried spicy pepper like I did (it’s verrryy spicy Thai chili and I had to chug tons of ice water after). Overall amazing restaurant, with more unique dishes than your standard mom + pop T
I went to Goog Thai Cook Shop on Monday, and the food was very authentic—super close to real Thai flavors 🇹🇭✨. The papaya salad was really good and tasted just like the papaya salad you’d get from a small street food cart in Thailand 🥗🔥. One of my favorite dishes was the Isaan sausage—slightly tangy and eaten together with the fresh vegetables on the side, it was excellent 🌭👌. The homemade warm rice ball dessert with coconut cream was also delicious and a perfect way to end the meal 🍡🥥.
Wow this spot exceeded all expectations. Came here with 3 friends (2 of us NYC locals, 2 out of town) for dinner on a recommendation, and we were blown away. The flavors were complex but not overly done, and there were options ranging from classic Thai street food to elevated and unique dishes. All for a reasonable price! And with great vegetarian options. Will definitely be going back whenever we’re in Red Hook.
