Sanku Maots'ai is a build-your-own maocai (DIY Sichuan hot pot) spot, and even on a quick stop it's easy to see why it's running a 4.6. The concept is the draw: you walk the cold case, pick exactly what you want from a big spread of vegetables, noodles, proteins and add-ins, choose your broth, and they cook it to order. There's a free self-serve sauce bar with universal, sesame, seafood, Sichuan and low-fat dipping setups, plus a clearly posted allergen guide, which is a nice touch for anyone wa
Absolutely love this build-your-own malatang spot! Being able to pick exactly what I want without compromising is the best, especially when dining alone. They have a huge selection of fresh ingredients, from meats and seafood to veggies, mushrooms, noodles, and more. I got the spicy dry pot, and it was flavorful, aromatic, and not overwhelmingly spicy. The brown sugar rice cakes were also delicious—crispy on the outside and chewy inside. Definitely coming back!
I ordered the mala dry pot, and it was absolutely delicious! The ingredients were fresh, the seasoning was flavorful without being overly salty, and the spice level was perfect. I especially loved the variety of vegetables, mushrooms, and toppings. The portion was generous, and everything tasted fresh. Great service and a cozy atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back for another bowl!
