The Boiler Room is one of those classic NYC spots that feels unapologetically authentic. No pretentiousness, no gimmicks — just strong drinks, good music, and a laid-back crowd. The atmosphere has that gritty East Village charm that’s getting harder to find in Manhattan. Perfect place to start or end a night out with friends. If you like dive bars with personality, this place is worth checking out.
Spent time here with a friend who started with a cocktail; I had a basic beer. First round: $24. Then, with additional drinks (no cocktails), the beers magically became $12 apiece. If cocktails and beers are the same price, advertise them as such. With no written menu, it was impossible to understand the pricing structure, and $12 for a basic beer came as quite a surprise. Swung by here for a quick drink recently after work. Hadn’t been to the new location- glad to see it’s the same vibe! Shane the bartender was lovely- attentive, quick, friendly and nice to banter with. Will definitely be back next time in the east village!
