Didn’t expect a Jiangzhe style restaurant to do Changsha stinky tofu this well, but it was honestly great and now I don’t feel the need to go all the way to Flushing for it. The bamboo shoot soup had that rich, milky broth and was super comforting. We went with the boneless sweet and sour pork ribs and they were nicely balanced, not overly sweet, with great texture from the mix of meat and tendon. Great spot with a large variety of options to suit any palette/dietary needs. Food is super freshly prepared and portions are a perfect size. Would recommend the soup dumplings and orange chicken. Some of the food was a little bland, like the fried rice, but was overall good. Totally calming ambiance, which is rare in the city. Would recommend stopping by sometime.
I am really confused as to why this place has even over 3 stars. Our server today was great, but this restaurant is clearly understaffed (and it's Sunday). No one was at the bar, and it took the single woman working the floor at least 20 min to take our order, because she was bussing tables, taking orders, and serving the rest of the floor which was not small.
