New favorite place in Astoria! The food is amazing. Salads and flatbreads were great, the Brussels sprouts and burrata were amazing but the mac and cheese was the absolute most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten. Finally made it to Bel Aire Diner and I can honestly say it lives up to the hype especially with their halal menu option. Being able to swap any protein on their regular menu for halal is a game changer, and they don’t cut corners at all. I’ve tried this place three times now and I just don’t like it. I know Mamdani loves and I and I like almost all his favorite places but this just doesn’t do it for me. My friends and I came in for lunch last week and we had a ton of great food while in Astoria, but this was hands down the best place we had eaten at all week. We LOVED Arepas Cafe. We heard about it from the Taste Buds series on TikTok, and it did not disappoint. The vibe / atmosphere is so fun, the staff is friendly, and the food comes out hot and FRESH. An order of empanadas and one arepa was plenty of food for two. This was a wonderful little neighborhood spot and I would highly recommend!
