I have seen this restaurant for some time but I never seem to be shopping at Essex Market after it opens. Luckily I mad it there yesterday and it was wonderful. There is only counter seating which at first seem surprisingly high till you get used to it. While you don’t get to watch the chef prepare your food when it’s presented there is a sense of wonder as several dishes are quite beautiful. We only preferred one appetizer and sushi but it was all delicious and I will be back to try more. Mu

M&J on 29th Street has the best fried rice in Manhattan! It was so delicious and filling, I packed it on my flight with me and enjoyed every bite. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in town again. And the service is great.

Been coming here for years. Consistently good sushi rolls. I’ve never had nigiri and tbh, I probably wouldn’t order that here or a sushi dinner, but the rolls are very good. Good prices. Takeout only.

Although the fish is fresh, Tokugawa is underwhelming and overpriced. The “omakase” ($85 plus tax) consisted of 10 pieces of sushi and a hand roll. Presented all in one platter, it did not seem special, no different from picking items à la carte.

Insane!!!! I loved everything about this restaurant except for the price point 😂 The food was amazing. I loved their 20’s speakeasy theme and how they had 2 parts to their dinner—the cocktail/canapé service and then the omakase in the back room. Vibes were immaculate 👌🏼 Started the dinner off strong because those appetizer bites were YUMMY! The sushi was amazing as well. I’ve been to a bunch of omakases in my life—in Denver, NYC, SF, throughout Asia, etc. I’ll say this wasn’t my favorite ev

*Zebra Bistro Bar – Flushing* The space itself is small, cozy, and nicely presented. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The staff runs the bar like a private club rather than a business. Professionalism is lacking, and the service is rude. Regulars are clearly prioritized over everyday customers, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere for anyone outside their circle. The website advertises food, yet none was available during my visit. Pricing is steep — $9 for a beer and $20+ for a co

We had an amazing time at Toyo Sushi! The staff were super friendly, and the cozy vibe made it a fun family outing. The sushi was awesome, with cool rolls for the kids and yummy nigiri and sashimi for the grown-ups. Besides the sushi, the noodle dishes and appetizers were really, really good. We left happy and can't wait to go back for more tasty Japanese food!

This place is insanely good and 100% gluten free. I’m a massive fan and really enjoyed all the sushi, especially the gf tempura shrimp. Oh wow, what a rare find. You need to stop by when in New York City especially if you have Celiac Disease or are just looking for amazing sushi.

Absolutely spectacular. The perfect way to spend our last night in New York. The restaurant itself is beautiful, tucked away in the basement of the iconic Hotel Chelsea, with a hidden, intimate feel that makes the experience even more special. The food was outstanding. We loved the Torotororo, sea bass sashimi, A5 Wagyu, and the spicy scallop and spicy tuna rolls. Everything was fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. We also enjoyed Brooklyn Kura sake and a fantastic Japanese Koshu

We got there right at closing time but they were happy to take our order so we just had cold brew which was pretty good. I had to come back for their matcha, beautiful vibrant green color and house made fruit purees, I had the mango matcha latte with oat milk. Also tried this tiramisu latte and a shot of espresso that was perfectly brewed. Friendly staff and well kept shop, no wonder people kept coming in and out.

If you walk here from the Staten Island ferry just mentally prepare yourself for a very hilly commute. Nago Cafe has some great lunch deals and I opted for the two roll combo with salad and soup for $9.95. Call me uncouth but I unapologetically love Philadelphia rolls. I think cream cheese is a criminally underused ingredient in general, but it just pairs so well with the salmon and rice. Also if anyone knows where to get the salad dressing that a plurality of Japanese restaurants seem to use pl

Sushi was very very fresh, taste and presentation was 10/10. Our new go to spot! The spicy mayo was also amazing, I love how perfectly spicy it is, other places it’s usually sweet and doesn’t taste right, this place is just overall amazing!!! I just ate ALOT and I'm thinking about it and how I could eat more, that’s how good it is! I cant wait to order from here again, best best sushi I’ve had in a very long time and Ive tried sooo many spots in Brooklyn, this place is 10/10, 100% recommend!!

I had an incredible omakase experience here. All of the sushi was so fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. There was such a wide selection of high quality dishes but some ones that stood out were the hairy crab with uni, fatty tuna, and Spanish mackerel. The staff/chefs were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The atmosphere was a very clean and intimate venue providing the best sort of environment for an omakase. After playing at a nearby playground, we were starving and looking for a place to eat. This restaurant popped up in my search and was conveniently located just two blocks away, so we decided to give it a try. It’s a fast-casual spot specializing in Americanized Japanese fare. Here’s what we ordered: Shumai ($5.99/6pcs): you can choose to get them steamed or fried and I highly recommend getting them fried. They were cooked perfectly and it had a nice crispy exterior and soft center. Yes, the

A wonderful omakase experience at Sushi Mumi. The owner/chef Marco definitely showcased the best of the Japanese culinary skills and selected some of the most fresh and delicious ingredients available during the season. He was also a friendly and fun person to chat with. Food wise, each course is prepared with care and detail, well presented and tasted remarkable. My favorite was the hairy crab, which I ordered 2 additionals. The sake selection, although bot vast, but had some interesting choice

Asked for a little char, and they nailed it, perfection! I enjoy coming here for their chicken and teriyaki meals: simple, affordable, and always delicious. I frequent here around 8-10pm and love their sushi. Never hard rice and reasonably priced. I usually order 2 classic rolls and a side of spicy mayo. My order comes out to about 20 dollars. A side sauce is about the size for 2 sushi rolls if u are a heavy sauce dipper. Their dine out orders are quick allowing you to order online or on the phone for later orders. Dine in is very peaceful and quiet during the pm hours. Staff are respectful and attentive. Will keep coming back !

I came here for dinner and had a great time! Located in the East Village, this Japanese wine bar has a live DJ playing record music and a great wine list. Service here was pretty quick and nice. We got their fries, chicken karaage, katsu sando, and matcha sundae to share along with a number of their wines. Everything was delicious, and their wines were all amazing. I loved the ambiance in here (it was like a retro, art deco vibe) and the music was good. Would love to come back here.

I stopped in for a quick bite and ended up really impressed. The poke here is as fresh as it gets—clean flavors, high-quality fish, and toppings that actually taste like they were prepared with care. Had a great omakase experience at Tsubame. The fish was incredibly fresh, each piece was well-balanced, and you can tell the chef puts a lot of care into every course. I liked how the menu had a good variety without feeling too heavy, and there were a few pieces that really stood out. Sushi on Jones holds a special memory for me, starting from my first visit to the al fresco Omakase bar in Bowery market to my recent return during the pandemic to the West Village location. On a weeknight, my friends and I were fortunate to secure six sushi counter seats at the LES location. The service we received was friendly and prompt. Excellent cappuccino with outstanding coffee quality. The green tea roll cake is delicious—nicely balanced and not overly sweet—and the cheese danish is also very good. There’s a comfortable seating area, and the service is great. The café is located on the lower level of an office building, so it can be a bit hard to find at first. Found this place while walking inside the timeout market near Brooklyn.Had the tan tan chicken ramen with dumplings and it was just so delicious. I like to occasionally grab a bite from Hawaii Poke Bowl if I'm in the area. The food is pretty good. Compared to other pokebowl places, I'd say this location provides more fresh fish and other toppings within the bowl. I like that their spicy salmon isn't mashed into a paste with spicy mayo. They actually scoop in the salmon cubes into a mixing bowl, add the sauce, then mix. Their spicy tuna is mashed though, so keep that in mind. The price is average for a pokebowl restaurant, around the 12-14

Tonight went to T-Swirl Japanese Crêpe 81-10 Broadway, Elmhurst, NY 11373, Queens—and man, this spot blew me away. I’m a dessert guy through and through, and these crêpes hit different. Hurts my heart to write this, but we left the meal feeling genuinely disappointed. We had very high expectations, especially given the restaurant’s Michelin one-star recognition. At $250+ per person, this is certainly not an inexpensive experience. We went for a special birthday dinner, but overall, many of the courses did not meet expectations — particularly at this price point. Most of the fish felt underwhelming, lacking the depth, richness, and quality we would expect at this level. Sadly

awesome little korean spot run by a sweet couple. we used go to their old spot by flushing all the time, but then they moved to this spot. i highly recommend their stir fried ttukboki, they hand make it and it’s soooo good and fresh. it’s skinnier and smaller and much much chewier, not spicy, so i know its not the premade frozen ones. if you are a ttukboki fan, definitely come by this place to try that and their other dishes too.

The best chashu I've ever tried! Their karaage is amazing too, really crispy and juicy without being oily. We tried the regular tonkotsu ramen and the spicy one and both are solid options, but you might want to request less chili oil if you can't handle very spicy food. I couldn’t go wrong with that right? I got to my lunch room again and started to eat the two dumplings that were given to me and they were delicious.
