Venerable NYC bakery/deli dispensing knishes, kugel & other Jewish comfort-food classics since 1910.
Our tour guide recommended this place, and I'm so glad we stopped by. They offer a variety of both savory and sweet knishes, making it difficult to choose just one. We ended up trying the potato knish, and it was absolutely worth it. The knish had a perfectly golden, flaky exterior with a soft and flavorful potato filling. It was simple, comforting, and incredibly satisfying. Sometimes the best food doesn't need to be complicated, and this was a great example of that. It also felt special to try

Such a great spot! My husband and I visited today and got the Eastie (salami prosciutto and sweet peppers) and the Cootlet. They’re super solid sandwiches and were very filling. The staff were so nice too! They have a cool projector all the way in the back with a booth. (Sorry for the crappy photos that do the sandwiches no justice. I promise they’re good!)

Purveyor of meat & vegetarian ramen soups & salads in a plant-accented space with wooden counters.
This is the best ramen restaurant I’ve been to in New York. It’s not only quintessentially East Village in its vibe and charm, but the food is absolutely delicious and the friendliest, welcoming and kind staff you could hope for. It’s only 3 table slabs with a few chairs so it’s cozy and familiar no matter how many are there at a given time. There are a dozen or so items on the menu, I don’t think any of them was over $20-25 and each item we ordered was exquisite and came out fast. The Shoyu Ra

Classic French bistro fare with flair in a cool brasserielike space with chandeliers & banquettes.
Dirty French was a whole vibe. The lighting, music, and energy hit that perfect balance of upscale but still fun and a little gritty. Food was really good. The fish dish came out in that small pan with a rich broth, mushrooms, and greens. It looked simple but had a lot of flavor and was one of those dishes you take your time with. Drinks were on point. The classic cocktail was smooth and well done. The flaming drink was a standout, great presentation and actually tasted as good as it looked.

I can’t say enough good things about this spot, and specifically about John. It is rare to see one person handle the entire operation so flawlessly, but John does it all. He manages the register with a great attitude and then hops right back to cook the food—and the quality is consistently 10/10. Usually, when a place is busy, you expect service or food quality to dip, but John keeps everything running perfectly.

Modern space offering self-taught pizzaiolo Anthony Mangieri's 12-inch, wood-fired Neapolitan pies.
Had one of the best pizza experiences here. The crust was perfectly charred and airy, with that authentic wood-fired flavor that’s hard to find. Every ingredient tasted fresh and balanced, especially the cheese and sauce. The atmosphere felt simple but genuine, letting the food speak for itself. Definitely a spot worth coming back to if you appreciate true Neapolitan pizza.

A very sweet cafe with original brunch & breakfast dishes. Came here today for oysters and some light bites. Food was good and the vibe was great once I got seated. The arrival process was confusing. I asked if they took Apple Pay and was told yes, but no one explained it was first come, first served, so I ended up standing around waiting to be seated. I am writing this complaint with a heavy heart and deep frustration, because what I experienced was not just poor service, it was racism, plain and simple. Both employees and customers at your establishment displayed behavior that was discriminatory, disrespectful, and unwelcome. I cannot believe that in this day and age, people still carry such hatred and wish for the downfall of others simply because of who they are. I want to be clear, I was patient. This comes with a few different options of the standard New York slice. I went with the Soppressata and Burrata variation. It’s very much a classic slice in that it’s super thin, charred well on the bottom, and sort of hard. It’s able to hold up really well just holding it on the outside. Not quite cracker-like, but definitely not soft either. Toppings-wise, there was definitely a lack of cheese on here - it practically felt like there wasn’t any on at all. The soppressata felt a little old. I
