We book through the Amex Fine Hotel collection, we didn't receive a room upgrade which was a little disappointing but the room was still very nice and spacious for a New York Hotel. Boasting almost 200 years of history, The players is a private members only. You need a few of the members to recommend you, go through vetting process and hefty membership fee later, you can find yourself a member. I am not sure what is wrong with the management at this facility. Two of their maintenance workers or porters spend half the day and night hanging out directly in front of my window. Very nice hotel that has a homey feel yet still very NYC. We will definitely stay here again when we go back to NYC. The room for two was also big. It has a lot of unique facilities from meeting rooms to a theater under. The Whitby Bar and Restaurant has good food and drinks. The waiting staff could be more efficient but the place was always full. We were there just a few days ago so the good memories of Whitby are still very fresh.
