I had a fantastic time at Gramercy Tavern. We booked a reservation relatively last minute so we had outdoor seating. I'm not a fan of sitting outside. However, the inside was beautiful. Bread service was warm focaccia. Smoked oysters were delicious. We ordered ribs (super tender) and meatballs. I'll skip the meatballs next time - it had the same texture as meatloaf (not a fan). I’m very disappointed with my experience at this location. I waited 13 minutes for my McFlurry, and when I finally received it, it didn’t even have caramel, even though that’s what I ordered. On top of that, the staff responded to me with smirks and an unfriendly attitude instead of trying to help. It was not noisy, there were very few young people, visitors were mostly adults, and even elderly. We were there on Saturday evening and without waiting we got a table.

I just want to add that I come here almost everyday and while everyone is pleasant, Jackie and Ant are my two favorites. They go above and beyond everytime making sure I get my warm welcome. Pasta on both dishes were hard, I got the Cacio e Pepe 26$ dish for very mild sauce and pasta was hard so basically undercooked. Wife dish sauce was good but again pasta undercooked. Portions are smaller and service was mid tear. 2 pastas with about 70$ with tip. To be honest it was a very mid line meal for an expensive dinner.

Everything here was delicious! We grabbed a 5pm res and were seated right away. We started with the wontons in chili oil which were good, and the chili oil was delicious. For entrees we had the spicy cumin lamb, mapo tofu, and mustard green fried rice. I loved everything but the mapo tofu was my favorite. It was a good amount of food for 2 people and we had enough for leftovers as well. They have a good happy hour deal with drinks as well.

Chill atmosphere and vegan cream cheese options make for an enjoyable experience. Great bagels (at least to this out-of-towner) and friendly staff. Pick up the NYTimes across the street at 7-11 for a complete experience.
