As someone who has tried several different African restaurants, I can categorically say this is the best food I’ve tried! So many options that come in great portions. Lovely staff as well. If a proper Ghanaian/West African/Caribbean food is what you’re after, there’s no better place! They also have vegetarian, gluten free and halal option!

Do NOT recommend. Rice was bland Chicken tasted like rubber Sauce was too spicy I wasted my time here. The lady behind the counter assured me the food was freshly made and that it was NOT spicy. Neither was the case. I even heard her using the microwave to heat up my food. Never again!

I ordered from this restaurant on the 2nd of October with UberEats. I ordered Fufu with Egusi soup and Thiebou Guinar. It all costed me $48.42. With that price I paid I expected it to be amazing or something like that. No. It was not good. The egusi soup was not authentic. In fact I only got 3 pieces of meat. Lol. I don’t think they should serve it because it should be made authentically. The Thiebou Guinar was okay. At least my husband thinks so. It was lacking some flavor. They probably didn’t

This is a very dirty place to start, secondly, the portion size is very bad, it’s limit unrealistic! Lastly, customer service is basically equal to disrespecting people. That receptionist is not professional, very condescending and disrespectful.

Nice little dinner spot -- small menu but lots of variation. Had the garlic shrimp and a fish plate. It was a great spot to get a bite to eat and a drink before heading to a show at night. Service was good -- and we enjoyed our time.

Swanky, chandelier-lit restaurant & cocktail spot serving creative international fusion bites.
Tried Lagos TSQ and had a mixed but memorable experience. I personally enjoyed my food, but baby wasn’t feeling theirs like that. The setup was super cute though, and they really made it feel special for my birthday 🎉—I loved that touch. Now let’s talk about the real star of the show: the drinks. 10/10, no notes. We actually came back the next day for happy hour, so that should tell you something. Overall, great vibes, great drinks, and a solid experience.

Bustling outpost provides Ethiopian vegan fare, cocktails & regular events in a low-lit dining room.
First time having Ethiopian food, especially vegan. My experience was nothing short of amazing. The Beyaynetu, was delicious. The injera surprised me, it was slightly acidic and a bit tart, but it paired WELL with all the other sides. I got the $26 Beyaynetu (shared amongst 3 people), except the kale and beets option. This is how vegan food should taste. All the sides had their own flavor profile and even with mixing them, nothing overpowered the other! The sambusa with red lentils, were amazing

Went last year but forgot to post. INCREDIBLE food, lovely & fun atmosphere, & very friendly staff. Ethiopian food is always very vegan friendly anyway, but it was such a novelty to get to try vegan “meats” done Ethiopian style & enjoy the comforts of delights like Ethiopian-style vegan Mac & cheese. Dreaming of returning to this place 😍

Hole in the wall that produces the best Senegalese food Ive ever had. The lamb was incredibly tender and falling off the bone, spices were amazing and everything was well seasoned but not overpowering. The jollof rice complimented the dish well and the ginger juice was delicious and balanced out all the spices of the dish. The owner told me her mother was the chef and I absolutely believe it as it tasted like home cooking and was made with love. I have had this dish at other restaurants before,

Easygoing halal venture dishing up African entrees & desserts in an unpretentious dining room.
Feels like a jackpot finding this place! The place and the food itself may look humble, but the food burst with flavor. Priced by the pound, really good price. It’s my first time trying African food, with a buffet style you can try many things at once. I tried the jollof rice with beef, some other beef in a red sauce, potato leaves soup, meatball in red sauce. All dishes were tasty! Truly a great alternative for those looking for tasty meal in the area. Def will come back.

Fouta Halal is an excellent African Halal restaurant that delivers bold, authentic flavors in every dish. Their lamb shank is incredibly tender and flavorful, falling off the bone with every bite. The grilled lamb is perfectly seasoned and juicy, while the fowl dish is rich and satisfying. The portions are generous, and the service is warm and welcoming. If you’re looking for a place that serves delicious, well-prepared African Halal food, Fouta Halal is a must-visit.

The customer service was extremely disappointing. The person I spoke to on the phone was very rude, nasty, and had a terrible attitude. She definitely should not be handling customer service if she is going to speak to customers that way. A negative interaction like that really ruins the overall experience although the food is amazing.

Bustling eatery serving family-style portions of African cuisine in an intimate, dimly-lit space.
Each and every item was delicious, and it was such a variety of flavors. We had the Dibi Mouton, which was extremely juicy and flavorful. Just keep in mind, the mutton quantity is quite large. I can eat a lot, but even I couldn't finish it. Even the atieke and the salad that came with it worked as beautiful mouth refresher. Fataya too were tasty. Overall, it was a great experience. Yatenga French Bistro remains a cherished destination in my culinary rotation, offering a delightful blend of French sophistication with unexpected global touches. The menu is refreshingly diverse, featuring not only classic French fare but also intriguing nods to Mexican cuisine, such as quesadillas and nachos, which add a playful twist to the dining experience. I ordered the dibi lamb on my last visit and it was flavorful, but a little tough. The fries did not taste fresh (probably because they were cooked in an old oil). Also, make sure to call before coming here because the restaurant is not open 24h. REVIEW FROM 5 YEARS AGO: I love the grilled fish with fried yams. I wish there was more consistency in the size of the alloco slice though. I also love the salad, mainly because of the dressing. I would not recommend the dibi nor the leg of lamb as the

I ordered Ceebu Jen for $14.00. Although this dish was great, I’ve definitely had better Ceebu Jen. The rice wasn’t as flavorful as the Ceebu Jen I’ve had in the past, and the fish was cold. My favorite part of the dish was the yam. It tasted so good! The re-warmed cabbage on the side was hard to eat. I enjoyed getting some crispy rice on the side for crunchiness! This place hits every time. I ordered the Crispy Fish Bowl with extra rice, no wok veggies(I’m sure they’re amazing, just not a fan of veggies in general), and added Sweet Plantains on the side and honestly, the combination was perfect. The herb rice is so well-seasoned, the fish was crispy all the way through, and the creamy sauce with pickled onions on top tied everything together beautifully. I visited this restaurant during a recent trip to New York City, and it was truly a hidden gem. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and top-notch. The staff made us feel welcome and took the time to guide us through the menu. While I already enjoy certain West African dishes, my family and I are primarily American food eaters, so trying several new items was definitely outside of our comfort zone. This is my favorite spot in the entirety of the Hugh in terms of main meals from what I've tried. The Super Suya bowl, for $16, is my preferred option here. Suya, for those who don't know, is basically a spiced peanut powder, and it goes wonderfully on top of grilled meats. My dish came with Jollof Rice (rice cooked in tomato broth,) Suya (grilled chicken with suya spice)- Kelewele (roasted sweet plantains,) Ndambe (black-eyed pea, sweet potato, okra stew,) Mafe (peanut sauce,) and Moyo (scotch

Tried Makina in Sunnyside and overall the food was very good. The injera bruschetta was super creative and really flavorful great balance of warm spices with a nice touch of acidity, and the fried injera chips were a smart idea. My only complaint is the portion ratio: they gave very few chips compared to the amount of bruschetta, so I had no choice but to order a whole extra side for $4.50, which felt unnecessary. The prawns were excellent nice amount of fat and smokiness, cooked really well. E

Evan though i came for ox tail that was a delight I couldn't resist and I had a same of the ribs, plantains, black eye pees, fried fish and salmon fish in a sauce. It took me 3 days to finish the food i took way too much lol All in all very good southern food. Go try it out.

I’ve been wanting to try Waakye for the longest time via instagram. This captured exactly how I thought it would taste like. I got mine with goat meat, beef skin and fish. The beef skin was tender and delicious, the fish and the goat were a bit of a chew but they were good in flavor. The rice and beans were fluffy. The sauce that came with it, talk about flavor.
